What sets Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. apart from other Greek organizations?

Chi Phi Sigma is the first Caribbean Fraternity & Caribbean Sorority in the world.

 

Does Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. only consider males and females of Caribbean heritage and descent to join the organization?

No. Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. has a vision that will unite men & women from the four corners of the earth regardless of race, religion, and cultural differences in a single entity of Brotherhood and Sisterhood. Therefore, no man or woman can be denied membership in our organization on the basis of his or her race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability status. Although we are a Caribbean based Greek organization, the roots of our Brothers and Sisters represents five continents of the World: North America , South America , Africa , India , and Europe .


How do I seek membership into Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc.?

All chapters of Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. actively host programs and events that coincide with the Mission , Vision, and Purpose of our organization. All Prospect Members are strongly encouraged to attend these programs and events to further realize the effect that our organization can have within the community and on campus. It also gives Prospect Members the chance to acquaint themselves with our Brothers and Sisters and to figure out if Chi Phi Sigma is really for them. However, Prospect Members MUST attend Rush, which is hosted by the local chapter or by active Chi Phi Sigma members in the area, in order to participate in our new member orientation process.

 

Do I automatically receive an invitation to participate in the new member orientation process if I attend Rush and meet all the requirements discussed at Rush?

No, we do not accept members who solely meet basic requirements, but also exceed them. All Prospect Members must complete an Interest Application, which is submitted at Rush, and then pass a series of interviews. This allows us to determine if a Prospect Member is a quality man or woman, meeting our criteria of an individual who exemplifies remarkable personal and professional character, as well as dedication in all aspects.  

 

How long is the new member orientation process?

Typically, the new member orientation process takes four to six weeks to complete. However, depending on each intake class, the process can be four weeks or longer than six weeks.

 

Will joining Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. negatively affect my grades?

Academics always come first. Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. ensures that all of our members and Prospect members are achieving academic success. During and after the new member orientation process, our members learn the tools that will take them above and beyond what they ever expected to achieve academically and professionally. The Brothers and Sisters of Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. all maintain notable grade point averages within their universities and our graduation rate is 100%.

 

Can a graduate student or professional man or woman become a member?

Yes, we welcome Prospect Members of all educational and professional statuses. Prospect Members not currently enrolled in a college or university must have at least attained a baccalaureate degree.

 

Is there a minimum GPA requirement to become a member?

Yes. All Prospect Members must maintain a 2.5 GPA in order to participate in our orientation process.

 

Can I join Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. as a first year student?

First year students can only apply for membership during their second semester. It is important that first year students familiarize themselves with their campus as well as other Greek organizations on campus to make sure Chi Phi Sigma is truly for them.

 

What is the process for chartering a chapter for Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc.?

The successful expansion of our organization is dependent on individuals who exhibit excellent leadership attributes and who aspire to create a Familyhood for future collegiate men and women regardless of cultural differences.  All males and/or females seeking to bring Chi Phi Sigma 1st Caribbean Fraternity & Sorority, Inc. to their campus must review the Expansion Guide and follow the procedures detailed in the guide.
